The fifth volume of the Journal of Beat Studies honors Ann Charters, emerita professor of English at UConn-Storrs, the first president of the Beat Studies Association, and the founder of the field of Beat Studies. Volume five features a new interview with Charters, the republication of her famed Jack Kerouac: A Bibliography (1967, 1975), never-before-published letters about the bibliography and her 1966 visit with Kerouac to review his archives, as well as testimonials from scholars, an essay on her Herman Melville/Charles Olson research, and photographs by and of Charters and other Beat writers.
